Rumpke truck involved in a 3-car accident
“Today is a very, very sad day. This is a very unfortunate car accident. Our hearts go out to all those who were impacted and injured and we will continue to pray for their recovery,” Amanda Pratt, Rumpke’s director of communications commented on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
This statement comes after a horrendous crash in Union, Kentucky involving 3 vehicles near the intersection of U.S. 42 & Bleu Yacht Road.
One of which was a Rumpke truck who lost control of his vehicle after attempting to swerve out of the way of a Nissan PathFinder that tried to pass a Honda civic on a 2-lane road that is a “no passing zone“.
The Rumpke truck hit the tail-end of the Nissan causing the SUV to spin and flip off the road, turning the car into an almost unrecognizable piece of scrap-metal.
After the truck collided with the SUV, the Rumpke truck driver was unable to regain control of the vehicle before engaging in a head-on collision with the Honda civic.
A total of 4-people were severely injured in this car accident. Two of the victims, children ages 2 & 4 that were in the civic during the accident, sustained injuries but one of the children had to be flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center due to life-threatening injuries.
Both drivers of the pedestrian vehicles, ages 22 & 36 were also flown to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The Boone-County sheriff’s department & the team at WLWT5 are continuing to investigate and report on this tragic incident. This is certainly something anyone hates to hear but unfortunately this happens more often than not. In 2017 alone, The Kentucky State Police recorded 777 Fatalities due to relatable accidents. These are lives that consisted of mothers & fathers that were supporting families that are now orphaned and left clueless for what is next.
